Local Medicine Practitioner Michelle Migliore Tapped to Lead St. Joseph County Health Department: Improving Public Health Through Collaboration and Consultation

New Health Officer appointed by St. Joseph County Board of Health

Dr. Michelle Migliore has been selected as the new Health Officer for St. Joseph County, with unanimous support from the Board of Health. With 35 years of experience in practicing medicine in the area and 5 years serving on the health board, she is well-equipped to address community health needs and work towards current department goals, like improving maternal fetal health and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity.

According to Board of Health President John Linn, Dr. Migliore has played a key role in the reorganization of the department and the development of strategic plans. Dr. Migliore acknowledges the importance of departing Health Officer Dr. Diana Purushotham serving as a consultant during the transition. This support will help ensure a smooth continuation of the department’s initiatives and maintain strong leadership within the organization.

The appointment of Dr. Michelle Migliore as Health Officer will be voted on by the St. Joseph County Council on May 28th. If approved, the appointment will then move to the County Commissioners for a final vote. Dr. Migliore is committed to working with the community and all stakeholders to create a healthier St. Joseph County, collaborating with community partners to implement new programs that promote wellness and address health challenges faced by residents
