Local Inline Speed Skaters to Compete for Team USA in World Championships

Inline speed skaters Sadna Ganesan and Jaelyn Godin from Wilbraham, Massachusetts are preparing to make history as they have been selected to represent Team USA at the upcoming World Championships in Italy this September. The girls train rigorously at Interskate 91 South, the only competitive inline speed skating rink in all of New England, dedicating a total of 20 hours a week to training as part of one of the top teams in the nation.

During a recent practice, 22News caught up with the skaters who expressed their excitement for the upcoming competition. Sadna shared that she trains diligently every day with very few rest days, sometimes even skating twice a day. Jaelyn, on the other hand, spoke about how going to Italy for the championship is a dream come true, emphasizing the seriousness of representing the USA and the camaraderie with her teammates during the racing events.

The girls’ coach commended their dedication and work ethic, noting that their commitment to training both on city roads and at the rink before school has played a vital role in their journey to the World Championships. According to the skaters, they run 10 miles to and from school each day to stay in shape and enhance their performance on the rink.
