Last week, two beers from Logboat Brewing Co. in Columbia received recognition at the World Beer Cup. Dark Matter, a wheat porter featuring a narwhal on its can, won silver in the Brown Porter category. With a 6.6% ABV, it boasts flavors of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Mamoot, one of Logboat’s earliest brews, earned bronze in the English Mild or Bitter category. Described as “brown ale’s laid back little brother,” Mamoot is a crushable beer at 4% ABV, dubbed by the brewery as “the perfect breakfast beer.”
Meanwhile, River Bluff Brewing in St. Joseph scored gold in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category with its Sandy Dunes offering. This unfiltered Belgian-style ale features peppery and fruity notes according to the brewery’s website. The World Beer Cup Awards were presented at the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America in Las Vegas on April 24.
