Lions Extend Tight End Brock Wright’s Contract, Keeping Him on the Team for Another Season

Lions exercise matching rights on 49ers’ offer sheet for Brock Wright

The Lions have announced that they will match the restricted free agent offer sheet signed by tight end Brock Wright with the 49ers. This decision means that Wright will not have to leave for their NFC Championship Game opponents and will continue to play for the Lions. The deal is reportedly a three-year contract worth $12 million, with $6 million guaranteed. This is a significant increase from the Lions’ original restricted free agent tender of $2.985 million.

Wright has played in 41 games for the Lions over the last three seasons, recording 43 catches for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. He has established himself as one of the top tight ends in the league and will continue to team up with Sam LaPorta as the top tight ends in Tennessee. With this decision, the Lions are showing their commitment to keeping their talented players on board for another season.
