Tampa Lightning forward Mikey Eyssimont is set to represent the United States in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships for the second consecutive year. The tournament will take place in Czechia from Friday, May 23 to May 26. Last year, Eyssimont scored a goal and had two assists in nine games as Team USA finished in fourth place. Despite this, the U.S. team made an impressive showing by winning its first eight games.
Eyssimont, who hails from Littleton, Colorado, will join the team in Bratislava for training before their first preliminary-round game against Sweden in Ostrava on Friday. Some of the games will be broadcast on NHL Network. Eyssimont had a standout season with the Lightning, becoming a full-time NHL player at 27 years old. He scored 11 goals and 25 points, both career highs, while ranking third on the team with 135 hits. Known for his solid forechecking and strong two-way game, Eyssimont was also nominated for the Bill Masterton Trophy this season.
