In 2024, the Pleasure Lounge Restaurant & Bar in Lehighton has been cited for operating without a valid liquor license. This revelation comes after a joint investigation between the Lehighton Borough Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police – Liquor Control Enforcement Division. On April 13 at around 2 a.m., officers from both departments assisted in executing a search warrant at the restaurant/bar located at 201 N. First St. As a result of the investigation, police confiscated between $25,000 to $30,000 worth of alcohol, and the PA Liquor Control Enforcement Unit is expected to impose numerous administrative fines.
The ongoing issues and concerns regarding the business’s operations have not gone unnoticed by local authorities. Since 2023, the Lehighton Borough Police Department has received 61 service-related calls at the restaurant/bar. These calls varied from complaints about loud music to active violent disturbances involving weapons. The collaboration between the police department and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has led to classifying this business as a “nuisance bar.” If declared so, the owners would be unable to renew their currently expired liquor license.
