Las Vegas Raiders face disappointing 2023 season, look towards QB, CB, and RB needs for upcoming draft

Raiders may have to work for top QB prospect in NFL Draft

The Las Vegas Raiders had a disappointing 2023 season, finishing with a record of 8-9 and missing out on the playoffs. As they head into the offseason, they have a number of draft picks to work with, including a first-round pick at No. 13. They also have picks in the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and two seventh rounds.

Looking ahead to the draft, the Raiders have identified quarterback, cornerback, and running back as their top needs. With Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew currently in the quarterbacks room, the team is looking to draft a QB early. They also need help at cornerback after the Marcus Peters experiment failed last season and may want to add a running back after losing Josh Jacobs in free agency.

In terms of potential draft picks, Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. and Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy are seen as good fits for the Raiders in the first round. On Day 2, prospects like Washington OT Roger Rosengarten and Georgia CB Kamari Lassiter could be good additions to the team.

As they look back on their previous draft class from 2023, it is clear that there were no major successes from their selections. Their top pick Tyree Wilson had a disappointing rookie season while others like Michael Mayer and Byron Young struggled to make an impact. Fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell showed promise as a backup QB but there were no significant accomplishments from this class of draftees.

In terms of a dream fantasy draft pick for the Raiders in 2024, many fans would love to see Washington QB Michael Penix Jr., who has shown great promise in his time at Husky Stadium with his ability to push the ball downfield could be a great fit for our receivers and help take our offense to another level
