Las Vegas Business Owners Rally Against F1 Grand Prix Return, Launch Petition to Block Special Use Permit

Local business owners support petition opposing 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix

A group of local business owners has launched a petition to stop the 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix from taking place. The petition was initiated by Ferraro’s Ristorante owner Gino Ferraro, who stated that the goal is to raise awareness among Las Vegas leaders about the negative economic impact and inconvenience caused by the event in the past.

The businesses leading the charge are those located in the Resort Corridor, particularly those near Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, who claim to have lost millions in profits due to F1 construction last year. These businesses are adamant about preventing the Grand Prix from happening again, citing the loss of customers as a major concern. They are seeking support from community members such as limo and Uber drivers to pressure Clark County into denying the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix’s special use permit, which is required for the race to proceed. The county has not yet scheduled a meeting to discuss the permit.

Support for the petition has been widespread, with various community members expressing frustration over the construction and stating their willingness to sign it. Ladane Hayten expressed his frustration over last year’s construction and said he would be one of the first to sign if given the opportunity. Despite efforts to reach out to F1 and Clark County for comments, no response has been received as of Monday night.

The 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is currently scheduled for November 21-23, with Flamingo Bridge set to return later this year. As local residents and business owners unite against this upcoming event, it remains uncertain whether it will go ahead or not.
