Larian Studios Moving On from Baldur’s Gate: Focusing on New Independent Projects

Larian Studios nixes plans for “Baldur’s Gate 4” and announces two new projects in development

In August 2020, Larian Studios released the highly anticipated game “Baldur’s Gate 3” to critical acclaim and numerous awards. The studio has now announced that they will not be working on a sequel to the game and instead focusing on two new independent projects.

Larian Studios is currently working on Patch 7 for “Baldur’s Gate 3,” which will fix bugs, improve endings, and introduce new modification tools. While they have ruled out continuing the story of Baldur’s Gate in any form, they are looking to add cross-play and a photo mode in the future.

The studio’s decision to focus on new projects comes after “Baldur’s Gate 3” received recognition in several awards ceremonies, including the Golden Joysticks, Game Developers Choice, DICE, The Game Awards, BAFTA Games Awards, Hugo Awards, and GLAAD Media Awards.

Moving forward, Larian Studios is excited about the development of their two new projects and is looking forward to what the future holds for their studio. They are focusing on creating new titles of their own rather than continuing the Baldur’s Gate series.
