Lakers Sign Max Christie to $32M Contract, Securing Key Player for Upcoming Season as Team Looks to Reshape Roster”.

Lakers Bring Back Max Christie as Free Agency Kicks Off

The Lakers have secured Max Christie’s services for the next four years by signing him to a $32-million contract. At just 21 years old, Christie averaged 4.2 points last season while moving in and out of the Lakers’ rotation. However, with the team reaching a deal to keep him before the opening bell on Sunday, he is now set to become a key player for the Lakers as they head into their third season.

Christie, who stands at 6-foot-6, had a 20-game stretch last season where he saw consistent rotation minutes. However, his playing time decreased significantly once the team signed guard Spencer Dinwiddie in free agency and Gabe Vincent returned from injury. Despite not playing for the Lakers in the postseason, Christie’s role was a concern for the team, and his name was frequently mentioned during the search for a new coach and after the hiring of JJ Redick.

The Lakers currently have a full roster of 15 players, including LeBron James, who is expected to re-sign after declining his option for the final year of his contract. However, despite having a full roster, the Lakers are still looking to be aggressive in reshaping the team through trades. If they can clear some salary cap space, they may be able to make a significant signing in free agency thanks to James’ willingness to take a pay cut.
