L.A. Health Officials Warn of Measles Exposure Linked to Traveler in Universal City and Near LAX

Health officials in Los Angeles County have issued a warning over the weekend regarding an unidentified traveler who visited various locations in the county from March 30 to April 1. The individual, who is not a resident of Los Angeles, visited nearly a dozen locations during those three days, primarily in Universal City and at the Sheraton hotel near LAX.

According to health officials, the traveler visited several rides on Universal’s trolley and used the gym at the Sheraton as well as some local restaurants. The complete list of exposure locations can be found on the provided link. Additional locations where exposure may have occurred are still being investigated.

Health officials advise anyone who visited the identified locations during the specified days to ensure that they have been vaccinated against measles. Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be spread through the air and by direct contact, even before symptoms appear. Los Angeles County Health Officer Muntu Davis emphasized the contagious nature of the disease and the importance of being vaccinated to prevent its spread.

Symptoms of measles can develop up to three weeks after exposure, highlighting the need for caution and awareness among individuals who may have been in proximity to the infected traveler.
