Kyle, Texas Disappoints with Low Turnout for Annual Fair Attempting to Set World Record

‘Kyle, Texas falls short of world record for Gathering of Kyles’

The city of Kyle, Texas had high hopes for the fifth annual Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza, with a goal of 2,326 attendees named Kyle. However, only 706 Kyles showed up, falling far short of their target. City spokesperson Alison Kelly confirmed the low turnout, disappointing organizers who had hoped to break the Guinness World Record for the largest same-name gathering.

On May 18th, the city of Kyle hosted the “Gathering of the Kyles” in an effort to beat the record set by Kupres, Bosnia-Herzegovina, where 2,325 people named Ivan gathered in 2017. Last year, Kyle fell short by 836 participants, with only 1,490 Kyles in attendance. To participate in the Guinness World Records attempt, all attendees had to have the name ‘Kyle’ spelled exactly that way. Variations like Kyler, Kiel or Kylee were not accepted and middle or last names were also excluded from consideration.

The news of the low turnout at the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza sparked reactions on social media with many expressing disappointment and surprise at the lack of Kyles in attendance. Despite falling short of their goal, organizers remain hopeful for future gatherings and record-breaking attempts.
