Konecranes Expands its Global Service Offerings in Port Sector with Acquisition of Kocks Kranbau

Konecranes has recently acquired the operations of German crane and service provider Kocks Kranbau, expanding their reach to a new customer base in Europe and around the world. Kocks Kranbau GmbH was established in early 2023 after the insolvency of its parent company, Kocks Ardelt Kranbau GmbH, a prominent builder of port and shipyard cranes. The main areas of operation for Kocks Kranbau are Bremen, Hamburg, and Oberhausen.

Over the past few years, Kocks Kranbau has achieved annual net sales ranging between €10 and €12 million ($10.85 and $13 million). With this acquisition, Konecranes is set to welcome over 60 new employees and expand their reach to Kocks Ardelt Kranbau’s extensive client base in Germany, Europe, and beyond. Paolo Dazi, who serves as Senior Vice President Port Services at Konecranes, expressed his confidence in the combined expertise of Kocks Kranbau and Konecranes to enhance their global service offerings in the port sector.

Konecranes is known for its innovative solutions in the port industry, including reachstackers like the one installed at the Humber Container Terminal at the Port of Hull under the management of Associated British Ports (ABP) earlier in March. Although the exact acquisition price remains undisclosed, it was finalized in April.
