Knife Attack at European Championship Party: No Drugs or Alcohol Found in Perpetrator’s System

Knife attacker at European Championship party in Wolmirstedt was not on drugs

In mid-June, a knife attack occurred at a private European Championship party in Wolmirstedt, Saxony-Anhalt. The perpetrator was a 27-year-old man who did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to a toxicological report. He got into an argument with a 23-year-old fellow countryman and fatally injured him before proceeding to stab three other people at the party.

Now, almost 20 days after the attack, it has been confirmed that the perpetrator was not under the influence of any substances. A toxicological analysis did not detect any alcohol, drugs, or medication in his system. The motive behind the deadly dispute and the attacker’s targeting of innocent football fans remains unclear and is still under investigation. However, authorities have ruled out any religious background to the incident.

Police spokeswoman Jeannine Stage-Breuer stated, “The chemical toxicological examination for the autopsy of the 27-year-old Afghan is available. No evidence could be found that the 27-year-old was under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.” The situation that led to such violence in Wolmirstedt and the motive behind the attacker’s actions at the private EM-Public-Viewing party are still being investigated by authorities.
