Klaus Schwab Transitions to Non-Executive Role as WEF Evolves Governance Structure

Klaus Schwab, Founder of the World Economic Forum, to Transition Away from Executive Position

Klaus Schwab, the founder and current executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has announced that he will be transitioning to a non-executive role by January 2025. He will become Chairman of the Board of Trustees, overseeing the organization’s governance and introducing four strategic committees to enhance its impact.

The WEF stated that this planned governance evolution is part of their transformation from a convening platform to a global institution for public-private cooperation. As a result, Schwab has not yet appointed a successor to take on the role of Executive Chairman.

Founded in 1971 by Schwab, the World Economic Forum hosts an annual gathering of world leaders in finance, economy, and politics in Davos, Switzerland. Additionally, it organizes smaller events around the world throughout the year, focusing on shaping global, regional, and industry agendas.
