Klager Elementary School Hosts Global STEAM Expo, Engages Families in Interactive Learning

Exploring the Globe through Math and Science Night

On April 26, 2024, Klager Elementary School held a collaborative event with high school volunteers that showcased STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) learning. Families in attendance were exposed to various topics from around the world in the cafeteria of Klager Elementary School.

The event featured an art show preview and a make-and-take activity to create notebooks, which were first invented in Australia. Children also learned about the science behind growing food in the Arctic and the discovery of popcorn in Peru. The invention of sorbet in China was also highlighted through technology showcased by the Klager K-12 robotics teams.

Families were also educated on college planning and saving through MI Future Funds. Children voted for their favorite station at the end of the night, with the Robotics Teams winning the title. The event was a memorable experience for everyone involved as families enjoyed its interactive and engaging nature.

Title 1 was present at the event to educate families on reading around Michigan through children’s books written by Michigan authors and Michigan products. The event provided an opportunity for families to learn about various topics from around the world while having fun and creating lasting memories.
