Kim Woomin Dominates Korean Olympic Trials with Impressive Time of 3:43.69 to Secure World Champion Title

The 2024 Korean Olympic Trials concluded in Gimcheon with standout performances from world champion Kim Woomin. At just 22 years old, Kim dominated the men’s 400m free with a time of 3:43.69, cementing his position as one of the top competitors in the world in this event. This swim was slightly off from his personal best of 3:42.71 in Doha last month but still better than his 3:44.35 time at last year’s Asian Games. Kim has already qualified for the Paris Olympics in the 200m free and 1500m free events.

In the men’s 50m free, Ji Yuchan took the gold with a time of 22.25, followed by Baek In-chul in 22.47 and Hwang Sunwoo in 22.53. Ji is the reigning Asian Games champion in this event and qualified for the Olympics with his national and Games record of 21.72 set last year. The Korean Swimming Federation’s High-Performance Committee will soon decide on the final roster for Paris.
