Business in East El Paso temporarily closes due to crash causing damages

In the aftermath of a crash in the parking lot of a business in East El Paso, Cradles & Crayons Kids Cafe has had to temporarily close its doors. Terry Ortiz, owner of the cafe, was alerted to the incident by her employees who saw social media posts about it.

The cafe, which is open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily and provides over 180 free meals for children in the community who participate in after-school programs or whose parents may not be home, will remain closed for a week due to the crash. This unfortunate event is estimated to result in a loss of about a thousand meals for the children who usually rely on them.

Witnesses reported that the individual responsible for the crash fled the scene immediately following the incident. At this time, Ortiz and her team are not planning to set up a GoFundMe page but are waiting to see if their insurance will cover the costs of repairs before making any decisions regarding fundraising efforts.

The police received a call about the motor vehicle collision just before 1 a.m., and as more details about the crash continue to be investigated, updates from the community can be expected in coming days.
