Kia’s EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Dominate World Car Awards for Performance, Luxury and Urban Car

At the New York Auto Show, the Kia EV9 takes home the 2024 titles for World Car of the Year and World Electric Car.

In 2024, Kia made a comeback with the EV9 winning the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle awards. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N secured the World Performance Car title, while other winners included the BMW 5 Series and i5 for World Luxury Car, and the EX30 for World Urban Car.

Judged by a panel of one hundred automotive journalists from 29 countries, vehicles competing for the main prize must have production exceeding 10,000 units annually, be available in at least two major global markets, and be priced below luxury options in their regions.

The EV9 surpassed vehicles like the BMW i5 and Volvo EX30 in the electric vehicle category. Other winners included the BYD Seal and Volvo EX30. In addition to these prestigious awards, Kia also won the World Car Design of the Year award for its unique design.
