Kennedy High School Student Ava Goldsmith Qualifies for International Science and Engineering Fair

Bellmore Student Participates in Elite Science Competition

Ava Goldsmith, a senior at Kennedy High School from Bellmore, NY, has earned a spot among 15 students on Long Island to compete in the International Science and Engineering Fair. The fair will take place in Los Angeles from May 11. Goldsmith’s research project focused on the implications of breast cancer therapy and specifically looked at a cancer-promoting network called the “epichaperome.” This is an impressive achievement for Goldsmith as only a select few students worldwide have the opportunity to compete in the Regeneron-affiliated science fairs. Each year, around 1,600 students qualify to participate in the International Science and Engineering Fair where they have the chance to win nearly $5 million in awards, scholarships, and internships. Goldsmith’s dedication and hard work have paid off as she earned her spot among the elite group of students competing at this prestigious event.
