Thompson discharged from hospital following cardiac arrest

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman BJ Thompson has been released from the hospital after experiencing a seizure and cardiac arrest during a team meeting. The 25-year-old received CPR from the Chiefs’ staff before being taken to the hospital on Thursday.

Thompson’s agent, Chris Turnage, expressed gratitude for the prayers and praised the Chiefs medical and training staff for their quick response and professionalism during the emergency. In light of the medical incident, the Chiefs cancelled a scheduled practice session, and head coach Andy Reid and players postponed media sessions until Friday.

Turnage also stated that Thompson was grateful for the support he received from his teammates and coaches during his time in the hospital. He is now recovering at home and is expected to make a full recovery soon.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of rapid medical response and dedication to health and safety both on and off the field. The Chiefs are set to begin a mandatory mini-camp on Tuesday, which will be an opportunity for them to come together as a team once again before they start their next season.
