Kandiyohi County Board Meets to Discuss Transfers, Updates, and Proposed Plans

“Ownership of Behavioral Health Facility on Kandiyohi County Board Agenda for Discussion” – West Central Tribune

The Kandiyohi County Board will hold an important meeting to discuss various issues. This meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at the board chambers located in the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building in Willmar.

At this meeting, updates and presentations will be provided on several topics, including the potential transfer of ownership of the 16-bed adult behavioral health facility built by the county in 2008 on Olena Avenue Southeast in Willmar and currently leased to the state. With the final lease payment made in 2018, a transfer would streamline operations for both parties.

Additionally, Safe Avenues, which provides shelter and advocacy for victims of domestic or sexual violence in the region, will provide updates on their programs. The Primacy Strategy Group will also present information about federal funding opportunities for various county projects. The board will consider adopting a proposed 10-year Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan that outlines solid waste programs in the county.

Other items on the agenda include a memorandum of agreement with nonprofit Children’s Dental Services to provide dental care for children from low-income families and a resolution to vacate a portion of Brower Avenue right-of-way along the north shore of Green Lake. Bids for grading and surfacing County Road 104 near Diamond Lake Park and line painting on Kandiyohi County highways will also be considered.
