JVP and DVD Firefighters Successfully Extinguish Wildfire in Croatia’s Mljet National Park

Firefighters from the Public Fire Brigade (JVP) and DVD Mljet were successful in extinguishing a fire that broke out in the Mljet National Park on Tuesday morning, as reported by the Croatian Fire Association (HVZ). The fire was spotted in an open space within the national park at 5:44 a.m., affecting low vegetation and a small area of pine forest on challenging terrain.

A total of 12 firefighters from JVP Mljet and DVD Mljet, along with four fire trucks, were involved in responding to the fire. The firefighters were able to localize the fire by 6:40 a.m. and fully extinguish it by 7:30 a.m., according to HVZ’s announcement.

The prompt response and coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams helped prevent the fire from spreading further and causing more damage to the national park. Despite the challenging terrain, which made the intervention more difficult, the expertise and dedication of the firefighters led to a successful containment of the fire within a short period of time.

The Mljet National Park is a valuable natural reserve known for its unique biodiversity and stunning landscapes. Preserving its natural beauty is crucial for maintaining ecological balance and ensuring sustainability for future generations, making protecting it from wildfires all the more important.
