On Monday night, Italy’s 1-1 draw against Croatia in Leipzig brought Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori face to face with former Juventus and Italy defender, Leonardo Bonucci. Calafiori had a standout game and played a key role in Italy’s equalizer against Croatia with an assist for Mattia Zaccagni.
The chance encounter between Calafiori and Bonucci took place at the Leipzig Stadium and was snapped by their agent, Alessandro Lucci. Lucci represents many footballers including Bonucci, Calafiori, Mattia Perin, and Dejan Kulusevski who is now playing for Tottenham.
Rumors have been swirling about a potential transfer for Calafiori to Juventus, but Bologna is holding out for a fee of at least €50 million for the young defender. In addition to Juventus, Calafiori has also attracted interest from several Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Newcastle.
As a product of the Roma academy, Calafiori has shown great potential and could take his career to the next level with a move to one of Europe’s top clubs. Whether he ends up at Juventus or elsewhere, it will be exciting to see what the future holds for this talented young defender.
