Juve Swoop Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in Controversial Transfer; Relegated Barrenechea, Iling-Junior and Alisha Lehmann also Involved

Juventus and Villa Seal Deal for Luiz

Juventus have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to acquire Douglas Luiz for approximately 50 million euros. In return, Juve will send Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior to Villa Park. The deal also includes Alisha Lehmann of Aston Villa Women and Switzerland striker, who will be joining Juventus.

Initially, Weston McKennie was part of the deal, but issues surrounding his wages caused complications and the deal fell through. Barrenechea made five appearances for Juventus after being recently relegated from Serie A while on loan at Frosinone. Iling-Junior played 27 times for Juventus last season as an England Under-21 international who came through Chelsea’s academy.

Villa’s financial situation has been under scrutiny as they are expected to sell players to comply with profit and sustainability rules after reporting a significant loss in their accounts. Despite finishing fourth last season and qualifying for the Champions League, Villa have already sold Tim Iroegbunam to Everton and are nearing a deal to sell Omari Kellyman to Chelsea. It is noteworthy that Villa had voted against the introduction of profit and sustainability rules, which put a limit on losses for Premier League clubs over a three-year period. Despite this, they will need to make adjustments to their squad to meet the requirements.
