Journalist Exclusive: Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese Defends Teammate Chennedy Carter over Flagrant-1 Foul in WNBA Game

Angel Reese discusses the foul on Caitlin Clark and its impact on the increasing popularity of the WNBA

Angel Reese, who remained silent following the game on Saturday, is now speaking out. In a media availability on Monday, Reese defended her teammate Chennedy Carter, who made a shoulder shot to Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark in the third quarter of their game. The WNBA upgraded Carter’s foul to a flagrant-1 violation after reviewing the play. Additionally, Reese was fined $1,000 for not making herself available to the media after the game and the Sky were fined $5,000 for not ensuring all players comply with league media policies.

Carter expressed no regrets about her actions during Saturday’s game and stated that she always competes with full intensity regardless of the opponent. Reese emphasized the importance of recognizing all players in women’s basketball and not just focusing on one individual. She also defended Carter saying he had taken accountability for what happened and they had moved forward.
