Join the American Legion World Series: How You Can Help Make the Ultimate Veterans Baseball Tournament a Success

The American Legion World Series Executive Committee is seeking volunteers to help with various tasks during the national tournament and festival in Uptown Shelby every August. Committee Chairman Eddie Holbrook emphasized the importance of volunteers in making the event a success, stating that without their help, it would be impossible to pull off such a large-scale event.

As they look ahead to the 2024 tournament, more volunteers are needed to fill positions such as gatekeepers, ushers, shuttle drivers, concession staff, and festival volunteers. Each volunteer position has specific responsibilities and shift times ranging from three to four hours. The 2024 American Legion World Series tournament is scheduled for Aug. 15-20, with the festival taking place on Aug. 10 in Uptown Shelby from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Volunteers play an important role in ensuring that attendees have a smooth experience during the games by checking tickets at the main gate through gatekeepers while ushers assist ticket holders in finding their seats.

Concession staff work in different areas of the concession stand while shuttle drivers transport attendees back and forth between the stadium and other areas.

Festival volunteers assist with various activities throughout the day during the World Series Festival in Uptown Shelby.

Each volunteer position comes with specific responsibilities and shift times ranging from three to four hours.
