Joey Chestnut Claims Victory at 2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Despite Rival Brand Deal

However, it has been announced that Joey Chestnut will not participate in the 2024 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. Chestnut, a legendary competitive eater who has won the event 16 times and is an eight-time defending champion, recently signed a deal to represent Impossible Foods, a rival vegan brand to Nathan’s.

The event in Coney Island has been held every Fourth of July since 1979, and Chestnut received $200,000 to participate in the 2023 hot dog eating competition, with a 4-year, $1.2 million deal being offered. The 40-year-old Chestnut holds the world record for most hot dogs and buns eaten, consuming 76 in 10 minutes back in 2021.
