Israel believes that this proposal will help achieve its military objectives, including eliminating Hamas’ governing capacity in Gaza. Netanyahu’s government aims to secure the return of all hostages and weaken Hamas’s military capabilities.
Hamas has responded positively to the truce proposal, stating its willingness to work constructively towards a resolution. The group maintains demands for a full Israeli withdrawal, return of displaced Palestinians, and Gaza’s reconstruction.
