JMSB Faculty Earns National Recognition for Academic Excellence in Business Disciplines

John Massey School of Business honored with numerous accolades at Federation of Business Disciplines conference

The John Massey School of Business at Southeastern Oklahoma State University received recognition for excellence in various fields at the national conference of the Federation of Business Disciplines in Galveston, Texas this week.

The FBD presented Outstanding Educator Awards to Dr. Courtney Kernek, JMSB Associate Dean, for winning the 2024 Educator of the Year award for ASBE and to Dr. David Whitlock, Interim Dean of the JMSB, for winning the 2024 Educator of the Year award for SWCRA. In addition, the ASBE awarded Distinguished Paper of the Year to Dr. Whitlock, Dr. Ashley Hampton, and Dr. Shanker Menon for their paper on Career Preferences of Business Students while SWCRA awarded Distinguished Paper of the Year to Dr. Ying-Chou Lin, Dr. Arthur Tran, and Dr. Meng Li for their paper on the Collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in 2023.

Dr. Whitlock expressed his pride in the JMSB faculty for their dedication to academic excellence and the recognition received at the conference which further elevates the school’s reputation and emphasizes the quality education students receive. These honors showcase JMSB’s commitment to academic excellence and highlight its exceptional work in various fields of business research as a result
