In 2009, Taylor showed significant improvement in his passing game, throwing for 2,311 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Hokies finished the season with another impressive 10 wins, culminating in a 37-14 victory over Tennessee in the 2009 Chick-Fil-A bowl, where Taylor passed for 209 yards and scored a rushing touchdown.

Taylor’s career reached its peak in 2010, when he achieved personal bests in passing yards (2,473) and passing touchdowns (24). Despite starting the season with two losses, the Hokies went on an impressive 11-game winning streak, highlighted by a 44-33 victory over No. 20 Florida State in the ACC Championship game. Taylor’s performance, including three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, earned him MVP honors and led to a third ACC championship.

Throughout his career at Virginia Tech, Taylor amassed a remarkable record of 34 wins as a starting quarterback. He remains the second leading passer in school history with 7,017 yards and ranks 15th in rushing yards with 2,196. His total of 9,213 yards is the second-highest in Virginia Tech’s history.
