Record number of attendees at the conclusion of Jewish Film Festival

The Jewish Film Festival Berlin Brandenburg (JFBB) attracted over 6,000 guests this year, which was a record number according to managing director Andreas Stein. This year marked the festival’s 30th anniversary and it was deemed to be of great social importance by its organizers. The festival took place in Berlin, Potsdam, and other cities in Brandenburg, showcasing a variety of films since Tuesday.

The festival also introduced a new industry event called JFBB pro, with the goal of becoming a major hub for Jewish filmmakers worldwide. This initiative aims to provide a platform for Jewish filmmakers to connect and collaborate on film projects. The festival concluded on Sunday, featuring award-winning films such as “Südsee” and “Vishniac.”

Both films were recognized for their excellence in the feature film and documentary film categories, respectively. “Südsee” explores a German-Israeli friendship within the challenging context of the Middle East conflict, while “Vishniac” is a documentary film that delves into the life and work of the Russian-American photographer of the same name. The festival was a celebration of Jewish culture and cinema, bringing together filmmakers and film enthusiasts from around the world.
