Jets Cut Cornerback Tae Hayes Following Marijuana Possession Arrest and Potential Disciplinary Action

Tae Hayes, CB, released by Jets

After being arrested for marijuana possession on Sunday morning, the Jets have decided to part ways with cornerback Tae Hayes. Hayes, who is 26 years old, joined the team’s practice squad in October and played in one game for them. Following his arrest, he was released from custody after posting a $300 bond early Sunday morning.

Hayes began his career as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and has had stints with multiple teams including the Jaguars, Dolphins, Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, Patriots, Lions, and Ravens. Initially, the Jets acknowledged Hayes’ arrest in a brief statement but did not provide further details.

Following his release from custody, Hayes will likely face disciplinary action from the NFL. It remains to be seen if he will be able to continue playing professional football after this incident.
