Keita Nakajima of Japan has just won his first DP World Tour title at the Indian Open with a four-stroke victory. The 23-year-old player finished with a total of 17-under par, leading from start to finish. Nakajima’s success makes him the fifth Japanese player to win on the European-based circuit.
Nakajima expressed his excitement at the win, saying that he felt nervous during some parts of the final round but credited his strong play early in the tournament for building a cushion. He now aims to finish in the top 10 on the tour and eventually move to the PGA Tour in 2025.
Despite facing challenges on the back nine, including a double-bogey on the 14th hole, Nakajima managed to claw back strokes and finished with a one-over par round of 73. Veer Ahlawat of India, Sebastian Soderberg of Sweden, and Johannes Veerman of the United States shared second place with a total of 13-under par.
This season marks the first time in DP World Tour history that there have been multiple Japanese winners, with Rikuya Hoshino winning the Qatar Masters in February. Nakajima’s wire-to-wire victory at the Indian Open has solidified his place among professional golf’s rising stars.
