In a press conference in Hanoi on June 28, Ambassador Naoki Ito expressed his optimism for the future of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan. The Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam highlighted the significant progress made in the relationship over the past 10 years, especially as the two countries marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Ambassador Ito praised the strong relationship between Vietnam and Japan, emphasizing the potential for economic cooperation and labor training opportunities. He acknowledged that upgrading their relationship to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World” in 2023 demonstrates the deep political trust between leaders of both countries.

During his remarks, Ambassador Ito emphasized Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Vietnam’s economic growth and expressed a desire to focus on new areas such as energy development, green transformation, and digital transformation. He also highlighted the valuable contributions of Vietnamese labor to Japan, particularly in addressing their aging population and labor shortages.

The Ambassador emphasized creating a safe and welcoming working environment for Vietnamese workers in Japan while expressing mutual benefits of this relationship for both countries. He further committed to promoting and deepening cooperative ties between Vietnam and Japan to meet expectations from both governments and people. Overall, Ambassador Ito’s remarks underscored the positive trajectory of Vietnam-Japan relations and potential continued partnership and collaboration ahead.
