Jacksonville City Council Ponders Limiting Overseas Home Games for Jaguars

Jacksonville City Council seeks to restrict Jaguars’ foreign home games

As the Jacksonville City Council considers a proposed stadium renovation deal, they aim to limit the number of overseas home games for the Jaguars. The current arrangement sees the team play one regular-season home game per year in London, but several council members have expressed concerns about the possibility of playing two international home games every four years. Under the current lease agreement, there is no limit on the number of home games that the Jaguars can play elsewhere, which raises concerns about relocation if they choose to do so.

If the council cannot negotiate this part of the deal with Jacksonville mayor Donna Deegan, they will have to decide whether to approve the agreement in its entirety or reject it altogether. Currently, the Jaguars play two games per year in London, one as the home team and one as the road team. The outcome of these discussions will determine the future of international games for the Jaguars.
