Jackie Chan Embraces New Look for Film Role at 70: “Being Able to Grow Old is a Fortunate Thing

Actor reassures fans: ‘No need to worry!’

Jackie Chan turned 70 and reassured his fans that there was nothing to worry about his health after photos of him with grey hair surfaced online. He explained in an Instagram post that the photos were from a character appearance for his latest movie, where he needed to have white hair, a white beard, and an old look. Chan emphasized his willingness to try new things for movies over the years, both in stunts and character appearances.

Despite not revealing the specific role that required him to have grey hair, Chan mentioned his recent voice role in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and his upcoming appearance in the next “Karate Kid” movie. Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, the film will reunite Chan with original “Karate Kid” star Ralph Macchio and is set for release on Dec. 13, 2024.

Reflecting on turning 70, Chan expressed gratitude for being able to age and highlighted the words of his colleague, Sammo Hung, who once said, “Being able to grow old is a fortunate thing.” He professed his love for making movies and thanked his fans for their birthday wishes while wishing everyone happiness and good health.
