In Rome on Tuesday evening, Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto was rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pain at an event. Reports indicate that the cause of the pain is believed to be pericarditis, an inflammation of the pericardium. This is not the first time Crosetto has been hospitalized for similar issues, as he had also experienced problems back in February.
Despite his health concerns, support and well wishes for Crosetto poured in from all political parties on Tuesday evening. The 60-year-old minister co-founded the governing party “Fratelli d’Italia” with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in 2012, emerging from the dissolution of the “Alleanza Nazionale”. Currently, the group is the largest single party in the Italian parliament.
As Crosetto undergoes treatment and recovery, his absence from his duties is likely to be felt by those around him.
