Israel’s Military Operation in Jenin Leaves Three Dead and Continues to Escalate Tensions

Hamas and Islamic Jihad prepared for a constructive agreement

Palestinian militant groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad have agreed to a ceasefire, announced in a joint statement responding to an Egyptian and Qatari-mediated agreement. Meanwhile, an Israeli government representative has shown support for a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The representative emphasized that Israel will continue its military operation until it has achieved all its objectives, including destroying Hamas’ military capabilities, freeing all hostages, and ensuring that the Gaza Strip will not pose a threat to Israel in the future.

During Israel’s recent military operation in Jenin, three people were reportedly killed according to Palestinian sources. The Ministry of Health in Ramallah confirmed this on Tuesday. According to reports by Israeli media, a special unit conducted a raid in the town of Kafr Dan, north of Jenin, during which armed Palestinians opened fire on them. The Israeli troops, with support from a combat helicopter, engaged in a battle with the armed Palestinians. It is reported that the undercover special unit entered the town to make an arrest.

Jenin and its surrounding area are known as strongholds of militant Palestinians, leading the Israeli army to conduct frequent raids there. Since October 7th following the Hamas massacre, more than 500 Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli military operations or attacks as reported by the Ministry of Health in Ramallah. Additionally, there has been an increase in settler violence against Palestinians.
