Israel’s Business Climate Improves: Security Concerns in Retail Sector Decrease; Hi-Tech Companies Face Challenges in New Market Penetration

Israeli companies suggest that the security situation is less worrying for business

A recent survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed a decrease in the number of businesses that consider Israel’s security situation as a significant obstacle. This trend was most noticeable in the retail sector, with only 11% of businesses reporting security concerns as a significant hurdle by the end of Q2/2024, compared to 17% at the beginning of the year.

On the other hand, businesses in hi-tech production reported an increase in challenges when it comes to penetrating new markets. In Q2 2024, 22% of businesses in this sector reported this as a significant obstacle, up from just 9% at the start of the year.

Despite these challenges, businesses across all sectors reported positive net balances in sales during June 2024. The industry and service sectors saw increased sales, while retail sales decreased. Expectations for July were positive for all sectors except construction and hotels. Overall, these findings suggest a generally optimistic outlook for businesses operating in Israel.
