Israeli Strike Against Iran Postponed: Netanyahu, Biden Discuss Possibilities in Secret Meeting

Israel considers its reaction to Iran’s assault while global leaders hasten to control the conflict

Last night, Israeli leaders held a quick Cabinet meeting to discuss the possibility of an immediate strike against Iran. However, after phone calls between President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu, the likelihood of a strike has decreased. Israeli officials have stated that they will strike whenever they deem it necessary.

Israel has several military options available to it within Iran, including targeting government buildings, IRGC members, and nuclear sites. However, a senior administration official emphasized today that Israel has no intention of causing a significant escalation with Iran at present. The U.S., for its part, is focused on diplomacy and hopes to isolate Iran through sanctions and terrorism designations. They also want to show support for Israel and discourage further escalation by other countries.

The European Union and the United Nations have expressed their support for Israel and condemnation of Iran’s actions. President Herzog of Israel has stated that they are not seeking war but will respond as they see fit in this situation characterized by careful consideration of potential actions.
