Israeli Retail Prices Rise Despite Inflation: Consumer Council Calls for Fair Pricing Practices

There has been a 6% increase in the price of the consumer basket in Israel over the year

The Consumer Council recently conducted a price check on 770 popular items sold in Israeli retail chains. The results of the audit showed that prices had increased by 6% compared to May 2023 and 2% compared to the previous audit in February 2024, before the start of Easter events. In 2023, an audit revealed that the consumer basket had risen in price by 5% compared to the previous year.

It’s worth noting that the current annual inflation rate is 2.8%. This means that the increase in price of the consumer basket is more than double the inflation rate. This rise in prices may have a significant impact on consumers’ budgets and purchasing power. To protect consumers, the Consumer Council will continue to monitor price trends and advocate for fair pricing practices in the retail sector.
