Slim chances of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip

The conflict in Gaza remains unresolved, with no clear end to the violence in sight. More than a year ago, Israel faced an unexpected attack from armed group Hamas, resulting in the deaths of over 1,100 Israelis and the launch of a bloody campaign by the Israeli army (IDF) on the Gaza Strip. The goal was to “wipe out” Hamas and rescue about 250 hostages that were kidnapped after the attack. Despite efforts to negotiate a ceasefire, tensions continue to rise as geopolitical pressures mount and negotiations stall.
