Israeli military initiates removal of approximately 100,000 Palestinians from eastern Rafah

In preparation for a ground assault that has been planned for weeks, the Israeli army has initiated the evacuation of approximately 100,000 Palestinians from eastern Rafaha city in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The military spokesman confirmed the evacuation of about 100,000 individuals from the city, which has a population of around 1.2 million, with most residents having fled from other areas of the Gaza Strip during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants.

Residents of the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah near the Philadelphia corridor bordering Egypt have been urged to evacuate and head towards the “humanitarian zone” of Al Mawasi. The evacuation order is limited in scope and temporary but is seen as a strategic effort to dismantle Hamas, ensure the safety of civilians, and achieve military objectives. The humanitarian area of Al Mawasi has been expanded to accommodate the evacuated population and provide essential supplies like food, water, and medical assistance.
