Iraq and Jordan Unite in Electrical Interconnection: A Major Milestone in Enhancing Energy Infrastructure

Iraqi Minister of Electricity announces official launch of electrical connection with Jordan happening tomorrow.

Ziad Ali Fadel, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, is thrilled to announce the official launch of the electrical interconnection line with Jordan. The launch will take place tomorrow, Saturday. The minister expressed his excitement for the project in a statement from his media office. He stated that after much anticipation, the interconnection line between Iraq and Jordan will finally be operational.

Fadel mentioned in a blog post on the “X” platform that this achievement was a result of great effort and diligent follow-up by crews working tirelessly day and night to make it happen. The completion of the electrical connection is seen as a significant success for the Government of Achievements led by Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani. Fadel commended the efforts of these crews who worked so hard to make this project possible.

The electrical connection line spans 330 km within Iraqi territory and 6 km within Jordanian territory, with a voltage of 132 KV. In the first phase, it will supply approximately 40 megawatts, with plans to increase to 150 megawatts in the second phase. However, Fadel’s ultimate goal is to reach 500 megawatts in the future to power large parts of Anbar Governorate. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Iraq and Jordan in their efforts to enhance energy infrastructure and provide reliable electricity to their citizens.

In conclusion, Ziad Ali Fadel’s announcement marks an exciting moment for both Iraq and Jordan as they work towards improving their energy infrastructure. With plans for future expansion, this interconnection line has enormous potential to power large parts of Anbar Governorate and improve overall quality of life for citizens in both countries.
