Iran’s attack against Israel, planned in retaliation for the death of Iranian officials in Syria, was thwarted by a significant defense system that successfully intercepted 99% of the missiles and drones launched. The attack involved more than 300 projectiles, 185 drones, and cruise missiles. However, the majority of these threats were intercepted outside Israeli territory, with only a few ballistic missiles causing damage in open areas.
Israel had been warned in advance of the impending attack and had been preparing a regional defense plan with the cooperation of European countries, Sunni states in the Middle East, and its own defense systems like Iron Dome and Arrow. This regional defense system proved successful in intercepting the threats and minimizing damage on Israeli territory.
Despite Iran’s attempts to demonstrate its capabilities with the attack, their operation did not achieve its intended objectives, such as targeting the air base at Nevatim and destroying advanced F-35 fighter jets stationed there. Experts believe that Iran may need to rethink its strategies moving forward, focusing on indirect actions to support non-state groups in the region.
