Ipswich Town Manager Kieran McKenna Secures New Deal Despite Chelsea and Brighton Interest

McKenna likely to remain as Ipswich manager

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has been linked to various Premier League managerial positions after leading the club to promotion. However, he is set to sign a new deal with Ipswich, despite being considered for the Chelsea job and linked to Brighton.

McKenna took over as manager of Ipswich in December 2021 when they were mid-table in League One, leaving his role as assistant first-team coach at Manchester United. In his first full season with the club, he guided them to a second-place finish and automatic promotion to the Championship.

Ipswich’s remarkable season under McKenna saw them finish as runners-up in the Championship with 96 points, just one point behind Leicester City. They also finished as the most prolific team in the division, scoring 92 goals throughout the campaign. The achievement secured their place in the Premier League after a 22-year absence.

Despite being considered for other managerial positions, McKenna is expected to remain as Ipswich’s manager after dropping out of the running for several jobs in the top flight. His efforts have earned him recognition from fans and pundits alike, making him a standout candidate for Manager of the Year award by League Managers Association.
