IoT Devices in Spain Focus on Energy Efficiency, Driving Sustainability Efforts

Energy efficiency targets 19% of IoT-connected devices in Spain

IoT devices in Spain are becoming increasingly popular, with around 19% of connected devices focused on energy efficiency. This highlights the growing importance of IoT technology in finding sustainable and efficient solutions. A study conducted by UnaBiz analyzed over 5 million connected devices to gather this data.

Energy management is crucial in today’s climate, presenting both challenges and opportunities for consumers, businesses, and society as a whole. Technology, particularly IoT, has emerged as a strategic tool in monitoring, controlling, and optimizing energy consumption in various settings. IoT devices connected to the Internet enable real-time data collection and analysis, making them instrumental in promoting the energy transition and contributing to sustainable development.

The study revealed that nearly 19% of IoT-connected objects in Spain are used for energy efficiency purposes. Regions like the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Andalusia, and Madrid are leading the way in IoT implementation. The report also pointed out that a significant portion of connected devices are allocated to projects such as water consumption monitoring, crop monitoring, air quality monitoring, and other energy consumption tracking.

IoT devices in Spain are being increasingly used for water consumption monitoring to detect leaks in real-time and optimize water use in irrigation systems. Similarly, IoT is instrumental in providing accurate data on soil conditions, humidity, and temperature for crop monitoring, enabling farmers to adjust irrigation practices effectively. Additionally, IoT devices monitoring air quality help measure pollutants and environmental parameters in real-time, aiding in making informed decisions related to heating and cooling systems.
