Investigative Journalist Adam Stone of Examiner Media Wins Merit Award for Outstanding Health and Science Reporting

Examiner Publisher Receives Silurians Press Club Award for Excellence in Health and Science Reporting

Journalist Adam Stone of Examiner Media was recently recognized for his outstanding work in Health and Science Reporting at the Silurians Press Club’s 79th Annual Journalism Awards. The event, which took place on June 12 at the National Arts Club in Manhattan, saw Stone receive a Merit Award for his investigative piece titled “Your Care Has Been Outsourced.” This recognition adds to Examiner Media’s success at the New York Press Association (NYPA) Better Newspaper Contest in April, where they received honors in six categories.

Stone and his team were awarded first place for best Freedom of Information journalism project and third place in the Writer of the Year category. Berger, who wrote a piece for The New York Times in 2007 about The Examiner’s launch, also attended the event. Among the top winners of the night were The New York Times and Newsday, both receiving a President’s Choice Award, the highest honor in the “Excellence in Journalism” awards for the year.

The Silurians Press Club’s awards ceremony not only honored outstanding journalism but also marked the beginning of their 100th-anniversary celebrations. Examiner Media continues to provide professionally-reported local news, features, and sports coverage to keep readers informed.
