During the Six Five Summit, Intel announced its “AI Everywhere” strategy, pledging its commitment to helping businesses and organizations of all sizes harness the power of artificial intelligence. One of the major announcements at the summit was the launch of new processors called “Lunar Lake,” set to be released in Q3 2024. These processors will be used in over 80 new AI PC models from more than 20 manufacturers. The “Lunar Lake” platform is expected to offer 40% higher energy efficiency and three times better AI performance compared to the previous generation. With a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capacity of up to 48 TOPS and a GPU capacity of over 60 TOPS, the platform is projected to exceed 100 TOPS.
An AI PC combines a CPU, GPU, and NPU, each designed with AI acceleration capabilities. The NPU is particularly specialized for handling AI and machine learning tasks on the PC itself, reducing the need to transfer data to the cloud. By optimizing energy efficiency and performance, Intel aims to revolutionize the way PCs operate and enhance user experiences.
